Description :
Personal care is the part of the list that only gets noticed when something runs out — the soap down to a sliver, the face wash empty, the hand wash that needed refilling three days ago. Metromart stocks the everyday sorts across skincare, haircare, body care and oral care, from the brands already in most bathrooms here.
What's in the Beauty & Personal Care range?
Face wash, soap and shower gel, sunscreen, hair oil, hand wash, oral care, fragrance and personal hygiene products. Brands include Savlon, Freyias, Kumarika, Ava, Maya, Jui and Akij Health Plus, delivered across Bangladesh.
The range is organised into eight subcategories, so it's quicker to browse by what you need than to scroll the full list.
How do you choose a sunscreen?
Match it to your skin type first, then check the SPF. Dry and oily skin formulations differ in base rather than protection — oily-skin versions use lighter, non-greasy bases that sit better under humidity, while dry-skin versions carry more emollient.
The SPF number is what matters most, and it should be on the packaging. In Bangladesh's sun, SPF 30 is generally considered a sensible minimum for daily exposure, with higher factors for extended time outdoors.
How much sunscreen should you actually use?
Considerably more than most people apply. The standard measure is roughly a teaspoon for the face and neck — enough that it's visible going on. Applied thinly, a high-SPF product delivers a fraction of its stated protection.
Reapply every two hours outdoors, and more often if you're sweating. Sunscreen applied once in the morning isn't protecting you by mid-afternoon, which is the most common mistake in a hot climate.
Soap or shower gel — does it matter?
Mostly preference. Soap bars are cheaper per wash and generate less packaging; shower gels are easier to use, tend to be gentler on dry skin, and don't sit wet in a dish between uses.
For skin that dries out easily, a shower gel or a cream-based bar usually suits better than a traditional soap. For value and simplicity, bars win.
Which hair oil should you choose?
Coconut oil is the everyday choice and the one with the most behind it — its structure allows it to penetrate the hair shaft rather than only coating it, which is why it's been the traditional pick across this region for generations.
Black cumin oil (kalo jeera) is used more as a scalp treatment than a conditioning oil, in smaller quantities and less frequently.
Both are applied before washing rather than after. Warm the oil slightly, work it into the scalp with your fingertips, leave it thirty minutes to an hour, then wash out with two shampoos — the first lifts the oil, the second cleans.
How often should you wash your hands, and does the product matter?
Frequency matters more than formulation. Plain soap and water, used properly for twenty seconds, does the job — the mechanical action of washing is what removes most of what's on your hands.
Liquid hand washes are more convenient at a basin and less likely to sit in a wet dish, which is why they're worth the extra cost in a shared bathroom or kitchen. Refill bottles are cheaper per wash than buying new dispensers.
How should you store skincare in this climate?
Out of direct sunlight and away from heat. A bathroom windowsill is the worst place in Bangladesh — heat and UV degrade active ingredients faster than time does, and sunscreen in particular loses effectiveness when stored warm.
Keep lids closed properly. Products with vitamin C, retinol or niacinamide are the most sensitive, and once opened most skincare has a shorter life than the printed date suggests.
How can you tell if a product has gone off?
Three signs: it separates, the colour changes, or it smells different from when you bought it. Any of those means stop using it.
Sunscreen is worth watching in particular — if the texture has changed or it's been through a hot season in a bag or car, replace it rather than relying on it.
Are combination and multipack offers worth buying?
Usually, in this category more than most. Unopened personal care products keep for a long time, so buying ahead carries little risk — unlike food, there's no spoilage window to worry about.
The exception is anything with active ingredients or sunscreen, where the clock starts once opened. Buy those in quantities you'll use within a season.
Frequently Asked Question:
Question: Are the products genuine?
Answer: Everything is sourced through official supply channels, with original packaging and batch codes intact.
Question: Do combination and multipack offers change often?
Answer: They do. Offers on soap, hand wash and hair oil run regularly and change, so the price shown at checkout is what applies to your order.
Question: Can I order personal care items in bulk?
Answer: Yes. Set higher quantities at checkout, or contact support on WhatsApp (01805552413) for bulk rates.
Question: Do you deliver across Bangladesh?
Answer: Metromart delivers widely, with coverage and timing varying by area. Set your delivery location before shopping.
Question: What's the difference between a face wash and soap?
Answer: Face washes are formulated for facial skin, which is thinner and more sensitive than the skin on your body. Bar soaps generally have a higher pH, which cleans effectively but can leave facial skin feeling tight. Using body soap on your face won't harm most people, but a face wash is gentler and rinses cleaner.
Question: Can I use body lotion on my face?
Answer: You can, though it isn't ideal. Body lotions are usually heavier and formulated for less sensitive skin, so they can feel greasy on the face and may block pores for anyone prone to breakouts. Facial moisturisers are lighter and made for the job.
Question: What's the difference between deodorant and antiperspirant?
Answer: Deodorant masks or reduces odour; antiperspirant reduces sweating itself. Many products do both, but not all — if sweating is the concern rather than smell, check the packaging says antiperspirant specifically.
Question: What does the small open-jar symbol on packaging mean?
Answer: It's the period-after-opening symbol, and the number inside — 6M, 12M, 24M — is how many months the product stays good once opened, regardless of the expiry date printed elsewhere. A cream with 12M on it should be used within a year of first opening, even if the expiry date is further out.
